Biography Maria José Cavaco ◄ Back

Maria José Cavaco (Ponta Delgada, 1967). In 1990, Maria José Cavaco finished her graduation in Fine Arts – Painting -, at the Fine Arts Faculty, University of Lisbon.
In 2017, she got her PHD degree in Architecture from the ISCTE-IUL.
In 2012, Maria José Cavaco won an Artistic Grant from the Regional Government of the Azores and, in 2016, she was selected for the prize António Dacosta, Regional Painting Prize.
Since 2018 she has been a researcher of the Dinâmia`Cet – IUL.
During the last three decades, Maria José Cavaco has made 19 Solo Exhibitions, the latest one in 2018, at the Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações and, in 2017, at the Águas-Livres 8, in Lisbon.
She has been invited for various Group Exhibitions, specially in Spain and Portugal, the lattest one took place at the Fonseca Macedo Gallery, in Ponta Delgada, 2015.
Maria José Cavaco is represented in different public and private collections, including the PLMJ Foundation Collection, Lisbon; the Carmona and Costa Foundation Collection, Lisbon; the Arquipélago – Centro de Artes Contemporâneas Collection, Ribeira Grande; and the Carlos Machado Museum Collection, Ponta Delgada.
